I collect a bunch of stuff, but I rarely share anything of it in a lasting way.
I share a lot on Discord. Discord is nice. It’s real time, and you reach people with it. However, it’s hard to search for content, especially across servers. You can assume to lose anything you share on Discord. It’s ephemeral.
I have always liked blogs. What you post is usually online forever. It’s a good idea to pour some effort into posts, because you don’t know if it could be useful to someone many years from now, but that also increases the barrier to sharing: there’s always considerable effort involved into making something last.
Which brings us to… a micro blog! It’s like an online scratchpad. Short tidbits that may be interesting, but usually don’t take much effort to create.
As I operate splitkb.com, I collect images of many keyboards. I collect many images in general, anything that inspires me in one way or another, anything that sparks interest or makes me laugh or think. I would like to keep better track of it all, instead of having a folder with images, but without its context or source. I hope this blog will help with that, and also get me into a habit of writing and sharing more.
Thank you for reading, and go make a blog of your own 😄
